I have no aspirations to sanity whatsoever. When I look around and see what’s considered normal, I’m not tempted. A lot of people attempt to conform to some standard of what they think is normal. But I don’t think normal exists. To me, style is all about expressing your individuality freely and courageously. But we’re living in the age of fear. It’s being pedaled by the fascist system on every corner, and it’s being purchased at a very high price, like winning lotto tickets.

TINY DANCER

Loan Tran, aka “The Tiny Dancer,” is an inspiration to anyone who’s ever clocked into a desk job but always aspired to a more creative life. An accountant by day, Tran puts on her dancing clothes when night rolls around, hitting the streets to entertain passersby with impromptu performances. Someone with an uninhibited zest for life and passion for dancing, Tran used to be turned away from clubs but wasn’t going to let that stop her from doing what she loves. Throughout NYC, she twists and twirls in front of restaurants, in between traffic, and even outside of the clubs that used to reject her. The band The Raveonettes was so taken with her freewheeling self-expression that they wrote a song about her and asked her to star in the video. Watch She Owns the Streets here.

I would like to clarify

I have never been arrested or committed to any psychiatric ward. Was reading some interviews and don’t know where any of those ideas came from. :/ I dance in the streets and most cops and even the firetrucks that drive by are cool with it. Only once I was forced into an ambulance and this was in the very beginning when I started out 4 years ago. I’ve had no problems since.
